Santa Rampage and My First Offical Homemade Outfit

I’m happy I was able to lazy around this last Sunday and nap, since I spent the night before partying it up with friends at Santa Rampage! Santa Rampage is pretty much what it sounds like, a rampage of Santas or Christmas themed characters taking over the downtown Nashville’s bar scene. I found out about it through my friends in the geek circuit, but if you would like to check it out, here is a link to Santa Rampage’s Facebook: or Myspace:

Anyway, it was a blast going around with this huge group, invading all of the bars and then getting our picture taken in front of the big Christmas Tree. People were beeping horns for us and getting out of their cars to take pictures of the, red, white and green, horde passing by. This whole event spawned me to make my first home made dress! I’ve been wanting a sewing machine, being all caught up in Cosplay. I found beautiful, Oriental material and faux fur weeks ago for the dress. I originally wanted to make an Anime Christmas Kitty outfit. Since I only had a week to make the dress from when I got the sewing machine, I didn’t have time to get the “kitty” part of the costume in. Maybe later.  Check out my “My Cosplay” page to see more pictures of the dress.

Doing the ChaCha Slide or something like it on the bar at Coyote Ugly 🙂

It was a trip trying to read the pattern sheets. It’s not like Dresses for Dummies, so they have crazy symbols and terminology for the pattern and instructions. I had to do a few internet searches and watch a few tutorials. Plus learning how to use the new sewing machine. I got lots of great compliments on my dress, so THANK YOU guys & gals!! 😉 I ended up used a fuzzy feather like material for the edges to make it look Christmas like and didn’t use the faux fur. I’m glad I did because it gave it a softer, more feminine look. I didn’t want the fuzzy stuff to be permanent so I could wear it year round. So I hand sewed it on lightly, but unfortunately parts of it kept coming off during the night from being smooshed in-between crowds of people and dancing. I had a lot of fun and I think everyone else did as well.

A little cage dancing never hurt anyone 😉

Till we rampage again!! Merry Christmas! 🙂

  1. Santa Rampage was awesome. Also, your dress was awesomer.

  2. Thanks! I can’t wait to work on my next sewing creation. I will probably be starting on Eureka from Eureka 7 🙂 Plus the Santa dress has a similar structure to it, so it was good practice for me.
