Girls N’ Gaming

Well, I’m not a Preachy Power Princess and I don’t wanna be one.  I am pretty laid back, especially about gaming.  I have been playing since I was little and now I enjoy a lot of XBox games and a tiny bit of Wii (no pun intended).  Heehee.  I happen to have an amazingly, awesome boyfriend and a small part of his awesomeness is the fact that he is totally chill about sharing the game consoles.  I’ve had ex boyfriends that would never let me play.

Anyway, every once in a while I get a wild fly about something that sparks my interest and get all crazy about the idea.  At one point, I thought it would be great to have a group of females to play with on Xbox.  I just thought it would be nice to be able to create a flow with people you play with once or twice a week, like a team does!  Then go online, kick some ass and have fun at the same time!!  Well, I started by trying to look up some female groups online or join the GamerChix forum, since virtually none of my female friends are gamers.  I start to realize that this is more difficult than I had imagined.

I kept running into females/groups who were:

In your face, “GONNA STOMP YOU” bitches

OR

Super ultra feminine, girls rule and boys drool, paint my xbox pink, chicks

Where is the in-between???  The normal, balanced female?  I don’t claim to be normal myself, but I can flip the script from feminine to tomboy or silly to serious.    And I don’t think guys suck or I wouldn’t be dating one.  Hell yeah, I have come across so many assholes online, especially while playing Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4, but unfortunately that will be difficult to avoid.  So yeah, this is me ranting a bit, but it’s kind of fun ;-)

I guess the conclusion I came to is that it will be very difficult to start a girl gamer group and I would like to start some kind of clan or group of friends to play with online.  When you play with the same people you get a flow, start strategies, communicate & have fun.  Whenever you are playing an online multiplayer, like Halo…, you know when you’ve come across a close knit group because they tend to wipe the floor with ya.  For now I’m just going to keep on gaming with my boyfriend and my buddy, Jeff.  See ya!
