Game Reviews

Starting with my most recent games played:

I really loved Fable 2 and I’m also enjoying Fable 3.  It’s perfect for me since I love searching and finding treasure.  I tend to be a completest with my games and I also will search every square inch of a map.  I love how there is so much to do and how beautiful the scenery is.  In Fable 3 they did seem to improve the looks of the characters, even though I think they could still do with a little improvement.  Especially the men!  There are some glitches that are fixed from Fable 2, but new glitches have come up that get on my nerves.  For example, the dog (mine pooch is named Kino) is very slow!  He doesn’t keep up and when you are trying to take him to a dig spot, he’s off wondering around somewhere else.  ”Where’s my damn dog?”….says my topless Fable 3 character.  Yeah, I’ve been running around topless for a little while and the villagers aren’t phased at all!  HA!

One last glitch that was driving me crazy, the golden trail will just disappear all of sudden and you have no idea where you are going.  A structural improvement to the game would to be able to get to your quest list with one click.  The D pad is under utilized in the version of Fable.  I also miss being able to do any expression I want, when I want.  I also don’t use the expressions as much because I don’t want to acquire a list of 50 mini questions from the villagers.  Despite all my ranting, I really love this game and would recommend it!

Dance Central uses Kinects abilities really well and is really fun!  For all you couch potatoes out there, it will be exhausting to get through one song, but don’t let that deter you!  If you keep on going and keep on dancin’,..I promise it will get easier.  The game really picks up your movements well and it is a great work out, even on easy.  If some nerds really wanted to practice a particular song and then get together and perform it,  they totally could pull it off.  Yeah, I’m calling it!!  A ton of Youtube videos of nerds dancing to Dance Central!!  Well, I do enjoy the goofy pics and clips they take of you while you’re dancing.  So in conclusion, if you get a Kinect for your Xbox, you definitely need to purchase Dance Central.

This is the game that comes with your Kinect to demonstrate it’s abilities.  This really is a short game, but it is neat to try out and see how Kinect works.  I really like the River Ride and the Obstacle Course game.  That’s really about all I have to say about this one.  For Kinect overall I wish the creators would allow us to share the pictures or videos taken during the game and share them online.  There has been some hilarious pictures and videos, but then again, I guess the inter-webs would be overwhelmed with stupid pictures and videos.  hehe..

Please see my Post!  :)  –> http://littleneko.com/2010/10/lovin-halo-reach/

I received Left 4 Dead 2 for my birthday (the end of November).  I loved the first Left 4 Dead and I’ve been playing the second one non-stop since I got it!  Now I feel like I wouldn’t know what to do without a frying pan or a ninja sword.  In my opinion this version of the game is more difficult than the last.  When my buddies and I play online we were having a lot of trouble just beating some of the campaigns on Normal.  Now I never claimed to be a Pro gamer, but I think I’m decent and we had some trouble.  I only say that because I know there will be some smart ass dude who would read this and say, “Well you must suck then!!!”  Gotta love some of the guys online ;-)   I personally have struggled with the Scavenge mode and never played Versus mode before, so I was a bit lost.  I wanna get better so I keep on playing.  Right now I’m trying to get all of the achievements and I have to say I do enjoy the avatar awards for XBox Live.  I have more to say about avatar stuff, so I will leave that whole conversation for a gaming post.  Anyway, definitely pick up Left 4 Dead 2 and if you didn’t play the first one, grab that as well.  You will have a blast and find out how much fun it is to work as a team and have no choice.  Hee-hee.

UPDATE ! (01/22/2010)  I’ve been playing a lot in the last few weeks and I’m still sad L4D didn’t receive any awards from X-Play (On G4).  No big, you win some, you lose some!  Funny thing is I had a friend(who I usually play L4D with all the time) of a friend jump into our party on X-Box Live and mock him for playing Halo Campaign with me, saying it was so out of date.  He was another L4Der.   Hmmm, okay dude.  lol.  Anyway, I have decided that I am going to play the game till I get every single achievement!!  I’ve never done this before, so we will see if I can prevail!!

Naruto The Broken Bond

Ninety percent of the time, games based off of shows/movies are terrible and definitely lose a lot of elements, but in this case i see an exception.  The animation looks great, the story is accurate and flows nicely through out the game.  There is a lot of variety with different types of game play.  Through out Story Mode you can play tons of different smaller missions or challenges and there are mini games that are fun, but help you advance your skills later in the game.  There is no doubt I am a “Narutard”, as they call us in the geek world, but I have a plethora of gaming experience that has brought me to this opinion.  I am 73% finished with Story Mode at this point.  If anything changes I will let ya know, but I have a feeling I’m safe!

UPDATE! Not long since my last post…  I completed the Story Mode and I still love the game.  The makers of Naruto the Broken Bond get a major bonus for allowing continued play after you complete the story.  I hate how so many games allow you to build up your character and resources and then you get to do nothing with it because the game ends!!  For example, Twilight Princess!  I would have loved and was expecting to go back out and see how everything changed after I saved the world, in Hyrule!!  FAIL.  While playing Naruto, I kept thinking, “I still have missions to go on and mini games to play! ” I almost feel like i can play with a bit more risk now that I’m not building up to something, which is kind of interesting.

Halo 3 ODST

I didn’t purchase ODST on the release date, but about a week after wards.  So far I’m not super excited and not ready to say it’s a “Fail”, but I haven’t gotten to play it very much yet.  I started the campaign with my boyfriend and then played some of the Firefight mode with my friend, Jeff.  I noticed that the campaign was more about sneaking and taking advantage of cover.  Firefight was fun once we got the hang of it and the maps were big in a nice way.  You still had tons of space to run around, but you didn’t feel like it took a half an hour to get to the other side of the map.  Also some multi-player maps in Halo 3 were way too small for 10 or more people to be chasing each other down in.  Wait a minute,….where is the nice Matchmaking option I grew to love??   The one where I got my ass handed to me, many a times?  Well, hopefully it’s on disc two?  We’ll see.

UPDATE! (01/22/2010)  Yeah, it was on Disc Two!  Silly me, waiting to pop that in the player.  :(   Just the same good ole Matchmaking with a few new maps, nothing crazy.  I do have to say I really enjoy the  Firefight mode and it’s been fun teaming up with someone and try to get the achievement for 200,00 points per map.  We finished the campaign and it was disappointing unfortunately.  I thought the little bits of story you would find with the chick trying to escape the city would  eventually turn into a video or clip of some sort.  NOOPE!  Still those crappy stills of the situation.  That story lacked and the of the game was eeehh.  This does not speak for the rest of the Halo Universe!!  I love Halo overall, that’s why I keep playing and will probably buy the next Halo Game.  I already bought my Bungie T-Shirt to help Haiti!  What a better way to help and you get a cool shirt.  You should  check it out, here is a link: http://www.bungiestore.com/.

Fabe 2

Yes, I am still finishing up Fable 2!!!  I will admit it does take me a while to finish most games.  Mostly because I am one of those people who love to find every secret and collect everything.  I did the same thing with Zelda, Twilight Princess.  I won’t say how long it took me to finish that one ;-)

Anyway, Fable is one of those games that you can play how you want and do all of the in between stuff or rush through.  Fable is graphically pleasing, enjoyable and a lot of fun.  I just wish I could have gotten my female character to shrink down a bit.  She looks like a muscular, barbarian, Zena Warrior Princess.  It’s just too tempting to pass up that scrumptious Chicken Fried Mutton, Balverine’s Spleen Beer & Unicorn Cheese!!  I’ve read that the “Amazing Apple Pie” is -90 Fatness.  I guess I’ll have to make my next quest for pie!!

I can’t forget Left 4 Dead.  This is one of my favorites!  If you have an XBox, then you have to own this one.  It’s amazing how it forces people to work as a team and for the most part, it’s painless.  I personally like playing with others online as long as there are no griefers on my team.  Or if you prefer you can play with a friend and the rest of your team is played by the computer.  The AI in this game are very skilled and I love being able to choose “Take a break” to go grab some Salt N Vinegar chips or a Gin and Tonic and the AI takes over for me.  Then I don’t hold up the rest of my team.  I can’t wait for L4D Two to come out at the end of November!!  Happy Birthday to me ;-)
